Top 5 Ways To Live Like A VIP In Pregnancy

How do you Live Like a VIP during pregnancy? This is a question I’ve been asking myself a lot recently as I’m currently six months pregnant. I know that I have to compromise on some things like Champagne and sushi, but I don’t want my lifestyle to change completely.

Health, fashion and beauty are all still super important subjects to me and I feel even more of a need to look after my body now that I’m responsible for a little one inside of me.

Since Live Like a VIP started in 2010, I’ve looked at what celebs are doing to get inspiration for what we can do to improve our grooming and style regimes. Recently, I’ve been paying more attention to pregnant celebs and this is what I’ve learned:

(1) Fashion

Celebs don’t hibernate when they’re pregnant. They have work to do, just like us, and that normally involves having film or still cameras turned on them. I remember seeing Sophie Ellis Bextor during her pregnancies (she’s had 4) and she dressed to enhance her bump beautifully in printed maxi dresses and A’line midi dresses. I feel more feminine now I’m pregnant, and like Sophie I’m ditching the jeans for dresses as looking good makes me feel good.

(2) Beauty

Pregnancy results in the same sort of symptoms, whether you’re famous or not. Stretch marks don’t discriminate between celebs and the rest of us – anyone can get them. The campaign Jennifer Love Hewitt is doing with Palmer’s Stretch Marks Range is really inspiring me. She says that she used Palmer’s during both her pregnancies twice a day and they really worked for her, helping her to avoid stretch marks and keep the skin on her bump soft and youthful. In fact, she loved them so much she became their brand ambassador and you can see an interview with her on the Palmer’s Lovely Tummies website. I’ve started using Palmer’s Massage Lotion followed by Palmer’s Tummy Butter twice a day and I’m addicted.

SM Range

I love how it feels on my skin and I love the smell, as its cocoa butter ingredient makes it smell just like chocolate. The Tummy Butter feels especially good as it’s a thick consistency, which melts as you warm it up and rub it over your skin –so luxurious!  With a little bit of luck, you could get to try it for free as Palmer’s is hosting a weekly competition on their social media channels where you could win a Palmer’s Mother & Baby pamper pack worth £65. All you have to do is take a photo of you and your lovely baby bump and either upload it to the relevant post on the Palmer’s UK Facebook page, or share it on Twitter or Instagram with #LovelyTummies and @PalmersUK. (3) Exercise

Exercise is great for both you and your unborn baby in pregnancy. I know it’s hard to get motivated when you’re bigger but look at this photo The Hills star Kristin Cavallari posted to Instagram – she looks fab!

Just 30 minutes of exercise a day can improve oxygen flow to your baby, regulate pregnancy weight gain and shorten labour time.

(4) Diet

I recently read a People magazine interview with Zooey Deschanel, who talked about how she’s constantly hungry. “I’m used to being able to go long periods of time without eating,’ she said. ‘Now I’ll wake up hungry sometimes, and I’m like, ‘What? I’ve never woken up hungry in my life!’ Every day I wake up, and I’m like, ‘Breakfast, please!’ This quote made me laugh as I’ve experienced the same thing. To avoid reaching for junk food, I make sure my fridge is stocked with lots of lovely berries – strawberries, blueberries and raspberries – which I enjoy snacking on.

I’m convinced that three smaller meals a day with snacks in between is better for me than three larger meals because it ensures I have enough energy to get through the day.

(5) Pampering

Celebs love their spa days and so do I! Jessica Alba has talked about how she found it helpful to get pregnancy massages, and after reading that I felt I had to do the same.

Recently I had a mini-break at Rockliffe Hall in North Yorkshire and after lounging by their gorgeous pool (above); I took 60 minutes out for a blissful pregnancy massage. The therapist soothed all those niggling aches and pains I get in my lower back as a result of pregnancy.
