I am very happy to see it was girl power at the nominations for the EE BAFTA Rising Star Award. (Just to clarify, EE is the new Orange – the mobile phone network that has sponsored the BAFTAs for years).
Last year, the shortlist was all male as Kidulthood star Adam Deacon won the award, beating Chris Hemsworth, Chris O’Dowd, Eddie Redmayne and Tom Hiddleston. However, now it’s four girls and one guy as Juno Temple, Andrea Riseborough, Elizabeth Olsen, Alicia Vikander and Life of Pi actor Suraj Sharma have been shortlisted as the cinema stars of the future.
If awards went for looks alone then our vote would go to Juno Temple (below). She’s been in Note on a Scandal with Cate Blanchett, Atonement and Batman blockbuster The Dark Knight Rises. But she will be in LOADS more soon as she looks fantastic.
Andrea Riseborough, from Shadow Dancer and Never Let Me Go, has just finished filming a new thriller with Tom Cruise called Oblivion. She’s our second favourite. Partly because we love her lipstick and partly because Shadow Dancer is intensely gripping, terrifying and emotional at the same time.
It’s up to us to vote for our favourite star and by doing so we could win a chance to walk the BAFTA red carpet and attend the money-can’t buy tickets for event. CLICK HERE TO ENTER AND VOTE
