Get The Look: Kylie Jenner Full Lips

There’s been a crazy amount of controversy surrounding Kylie Jenner’s instant plump pout. Everyone wants to know just how she does it, suspecting the secret to having newfound full lips must be fillers.

Recently Kim Kardashian filled the public in on the secret to her youngest sister’s success. Kim kicked the gossip to the curb when she denied all rumors of Kylie having plastic surgery, and revealed that her sister is just extremely good at applying makeup. Apparently Kylie’s a pro at using makeup, specifically lip liner, to accentuate and enhance her own features. Despite Kim’s claims speculation continues. Nevertheless even if Kylie has had a bit of work done, I’m convinced you can get a similar look by using only makeup.

Make-up is a glorious thing and now you know you can use it to achieve fuller lips instead of getting fillers in your lips, you can save yourself a whopping amount of money and pain. VIP’s, you can achieve a similarly full pout with lip liner so stock up on your favourite shades and start enhancing your lips.

Follow the chart below for a fuller kisser

In order to achieve this look, the key is filling in right up to your lip line as well as the creases of your lips to accentuate your shape. You must use a darker lip liner and a lighter filler. I’d recommend using Rimmel’s 1000 kisses lip liner for a lasting finish. To get a look much like the one in the chart use the shade called Cocoa Mandoria. For the same glossy filler, use Rimmel’s Provocalips Lip Colour and pick the shade called Make Your Move. If you prefer a matte look to go with Cocoa Mandoria lip liner, go for MAC’s Brave.

Taylor Swift’s Grammys Nude Lip Look

It was all about the nude lip at the Grammys on Sunday with the likes of Taylor Swift, Anna Kendrick and  Rita Ora showing off the perfect pout.  Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m very much a fan of red lipstick but there’s something just so alluring about a nude lip that I have somehow managed to accumulate over the years a countless number of nude lipsticks and lip glosses which all reside in their own makeup bag in my designated makeup drawer.  The beauty of a nude coloured lipstick/gloss is that there are so many different shades to choose from, which means that anyone can work this look – from peachy toned to pink toned nude lippies, there’s something for everyone.

    Taylor’s pink based nude lip

Once you’ve made the decision to go for this pretty lip look then you need to decide first on whether you’re a gloss girl or a lipstick lady and secondly on whether you want a sheer or matte finish.  Sheer finishes are incredibly subtle and allow you to go for a more heavy eye makeup look.  YSL’s Volupté Sheer Candy lipstick maybe new out but as far as I’m concerned it’s my HG sheer nude lipstick and why’s that? Well, because every time I use it, my lips feel ridiculously soft and moisturised.  It’s also perfect as it’s really understated but still noticeable plus there’s a range of shades so no matter what your skin tone, there’s a shade to match.  I mean, yes, it’s pretty expensive at £23.50 a pop but it’s worth it plus it smells like mango which makes me feel all summery even on the chilliest of mornings!  I use this in the shade Juicy Grapefruit as it has a nice pinkey base to it which flatters my annoyingly pale skin tone (seriously, I’m so pale I’m practically translucent!) but YSL have created some really flattering shades in this range.

Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Belle de Jour (RRP £17.50)

For more of a matte finish a la Rita Ora then the perfect product to use is Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil which gives a highly pigmented finish.  The shade Paimpol is my personal favourite but if you have more warm tones in your skin then Belle de Jour is the perfect shade for you.  Again, a massive reason as to why I like this product by Nars is that even though it’s matte, it’s still incredibly moisturising to my lips so that they don’t feel dried out after using this lip pencil.  You can also a apply a slick of lip gloss over the top of this matte lip colour to create a more dramatic finish.

Rita Ora’s all about the nude lip!

As far as lip glosses go, I don’t actually thnk it’s necessary to spend as much as you would on a lipstick as from my experience there are some really great quality cheap(ish) nude lipglosses out there.  Models Own do a stunning nude/pink lip gloss in the shade Ballet Pink at a bargain price of £5 (£5 for a lip gloss – is this real life?!).

Models Own Lip Gloss in the shade Ballet Pink (RRP £5)

I really don’t think that you can beat a nude lip (honestly, just try pairing it with smokey eye makeup and you’ll see what I mean!) – it’s subtle, understated, pretty and feminine.  So let your lips be naked with a nice nude lippy and perfect that pout like you just won a Grammy.

Nicki Minaj’s Second Lipstick for MAC Viva Glam

Nothing kicks up a stir in the beauty world quite like a new MAC release, and Nicki Minaj’s latest Viva Glam lipstick is certainly no exception.

The RRP from all MAC Viva Glam lipsticks sold is paid to the MAC Aids Fund, a charity set up to help men, women and children from all over the world that are affected by AIDS and HIV. To date the fund has raised over $224,000 thanks to the popularity of these lippies!

Nicky Minaj is just one of many celebs that has collaborated with Mac for The Viva Glam range , with past campaigns including Cyndi Lauper, Lady Gaga and the most recent addition to the clan, Ricky Martin.

But we do love Nicki and suggest you check it out too! The hip hop princess’ first lipstick, Viva Glam Nicki (a bright coral toned pink), created quite the stir upon its release, and the second instalment to her collection is already following in its footsteps. Viva Glam Nicki 2 is a cool pastel lavender colour and, like its predecessor, it’s the kind of show stopping shade Nicki herself loves to sport.

A complimenting ‘lipglass’ in the same cool lavender hue has been released alongside the lipstick as part of the Viva Glam range, so you can pair the two in a true homage to Minaj or tone things down a little by wearing them separately.

As with virtually all MAC lip products, you can consider yourself assured that the quality is impeccable and both of Nicki’s latest offerings apply like a dream.

So, with Viva Glam Nicki 2 you can channel her Minajesty whilst feeling good about the fact that your hard earned cash is going to a good cause. As if you really needed an excuse to add another lippie to your collection anyway…

Get it: Both Viva Glam Nicki and Viva Glam Nicki 2 lipsticks and lipglasses can be purchased from www.maccosmetics.co.uk or from MAC counters and stores. The lipsticks are priced at £14 and the lipglasses at £13.50.
