Cannes is the most fashionable event of the film industry. The South of France festival lasts for 10 days and there’s a different premiere every single night. That’s not all though because after the parties, there are jewellery parties, fashion parties and charity galas. We’reCannes veterans, we know exactly what happens as we’re usually there.
This year, we’ve taken a break from being at the parties ourselves, but that doesn’t mean we can’t look (and admire) what’s going on. It’s the best place to look for fashion inspiration for weddings and summer balls.
Our top 10 fave outfits so far this year are those worn by: Kendall Jenner
Hi VIPs! How was your weekend? The MTV movie awards took place in LA over the weekend and there were some seriously stunning outfits! To be honest, the awards themselves were of little consequence as we’ve already had the Oscars and the BAFTAs this year, but the actors and the actresses looked amazing.
Did you watch the awards on TV? If not, you can view it on demand on your Sky+ box. These are some of our personal favourites, in terms of giving us inspiration for party outfits:
Hi VIPs! It’s Friday! Even better news is that if you’re in the UK, the weather is going to be sunny at the weekend. BBQ time, anyone?
This week, we’ve had the final of Celeb Big Brother, some film premieres, some TV news and Selena Gomez dominating London by making a million outfit change a day for the past 5 days. This is what excites us the most.
(1) The Apprentice Star James Hill wins Celeb BB (but is an Apprentice loser really a celeb?!)
(2) Matt Damon and his gorgeous co-stars Jessica Chastain, Kate Mara and Kirsten Wiig came to Leicester Square for the premiere of Martian. The film looks great!
(3) Sicaro with Emily Blunt and Bencicio Del Toro also had it’s UK premiere and Emily Blunt stole the show.
(4) TOWIE’s back on 4 October. Georgia Kousolu and Tommy Mallet are currently filming in Marbs.
(5) Selena Gomez hosted a party at Annabel’s to celebrate the end of her UK trip. She cuddled up to Poppy Jamie and Suki Waterhouse. It’s nice to see Suki smiling and partying again, moving on from her split with Bradley Cooper.
(6) Little Mix were at Selena’s party and I was blown away by how hot they look. They’ve come far since their X Factor days.
So that’s a bit of film, TV and music news to end the week. Have a fantastic weekend and we’ll see you Monay with some more celeb goss.
It’s a Monday night, and I find myself looking at the real life faces of Christopher Nolan (see director of Inception, The Dark Knight trilogy, etc.), film legend Michael Caine, Hans Zimmer; composer and music producer for just about every film worth watching in my lifetime (including the afore mentioned films, as well as gems like Gladiator, Pirates of the Caribbean, Pearl Harbour, Iron Man, even my Disney fave the Lion King!); rock star physicist Professor Brian Cox, and two of science’s most incredible thinkers: Kip Thorne and Stephen Hawking … I didn’t know whether to cry, scream or faint!
Being in the same room as a celebrity, or well-respected VIP – if you’d rather, never gets old. That’s not to brag that I’ve been in that situation often – I certainly haven’t by all standards – but it’s happened a few times, and each time I’ve found myself pretty overwhelmed, nauseously in awe and mostly wanting to throw myself at their feet and tell them how awesome they seem to a mere mortal such as I.
So, I may been looking at these geniuses of their fields along with 5,000 other pairs of eyes, but hey, this was Interstellar Live; the film event of the year, to honour the film of the decade (at least!) – in the humble opinion of a giant nerd such as myself – and as well as listening to such a fine collection of VIPs having a casual chat, I was also about to watch the film; in the Royal Albert Hall; with a live score performed by Hans Zimmer and a full orchestra!
Christopher Nolan explains his director’s decision-making techniques
Hans Zimmer explains how to put mood music to moments in cinema
I don’t want to give away any spoilers for those who haven’t seen the film (so I won’t!), but I can say that hearing the music live; in such an intense way, as it bounced off the walls of the Royal Albert Hall was utterly spine-tingling.
There was even one section of the film where it is no exaggeration to say people were moved to tears. Or at least I was. And the people sitting either side of me, and we definitely count as people. Given that the entire audience burst into spontaneous applause (despite there being no pause in the movie suitable to accommodate this), I’d say we weren’t the only ones. If you’re curious, there’s a YouTube clip of the moment in question here:
Whilst I didn’t see her arrive personally, I’d heard that Jessica Chastain was in the audience, having stunned crowds with her LBD as she made her way down the red carpet. I thought about the fact that she was there, watching this with us as her character delivered an emotional performance on-screen, and it felt pretty surreal.
Still, perhaps not quite as surreal as Kip Thorne giving Professor Brian Cox a physics lesson; complete with slides (yes, slides – like GCSE Science, only way cooler… and more complicated) before arguing with Christopher Nolan over his decision to alter the appearance of the Gargantua black hole, so that it isn’t entirely factually correct (unlike most of the rest of the film).
I’m not really sure how you’d summarise a evening such as that, but it’s made me a very happy lady… and surely given me just a few bragging rights?
Morning VIPs! The rain in London last night did not dampen the celebs’ determination to have fun and look beautiful. It kind of makes me think: ‘If you want something then you have to go for it and not let anything get in your way’. Can you tell I’m in a fighting mood today?
Anyway, here’s evidence that there are a lot of good things happening right now:
(1) Jessica Chastain looked beautiful at The Interstellar premiere in Leicester Square
(2) However, Anne Hathaway gave Jessica competition. She also looked stunning.
(3) If we all want to look more beautiful we could try Rodial. The skincare brand has launched it’s first ever make-up range, specially designed for contouring. Daisy Lowe is the face of the range.
(4) Kate Moss’s younger sister Lottie has a new campaign. She’s the face of Red Valention, but I’m not sure if she has Kate’s edge, does she?
(5) How is Elle Macpherson 50? The model revealed in a recent interview that she doesn’t drink alcohol any more. It’s a tough choice – Champagne or beauty? What would you do?
(6) FKA Twigs showed off just why Robert Pattinson’s attracted to her at the Mercury Music Prize announcement. Her face is so symmetrical, even with a nose piercing and strange hair she’s mesmerising.
Now have a beautiful day and we’ll be back with some more gossip tomorrow.
So the Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards (CFDA) took place this week in New York and it is one of the biggest events in Fashion – it is the Oscars of the US Fashion World. Many famous celebs attended the event including Jessica Chastain, Rooney Mara and Hailee Steinfeld.
I’ll write about who won what at the end of this post but first let’s look at the photos for style inspiration. With this being the CFDA Fashion Awards, stunning outfits are expected but there were a few in particular which caught my eye . . .
Miranda Kerr did not disappoint in her glimmering dress featuring blue and green hues in dark tones. The eye-catching dress had a rectangular neck and offered a demure glimpse of her long legs. The top fashion and lingerie model accessorised with a metallic clutch and paired the dress with black stilettos so the focus was maintained on her stunning frock.
Sofia Vergara’s vivacious figure was shown off in a green gown designed by Herve L. Leroux. Although the ‘Modern Family’ star is known to overdo things when it comes to outfits, the vivid, grassy colour and the figure-flattering draping accessorised with Lorraine Schwartz jewels sure made her stand out. A collar of emeralds and diamonds drew attention to the actress’s neckline (not that she needed much help!), while matching earrings and a chain finger bracelet on each wrist provided even more bling.
Olivia Palermo looked divine in an ethereal gold and ivory ensemble with a fringed skirt by Dennis Basso Spring 2013. Styled with a Zara clutch and Zara lace up sling-back booties the look was super pretty and this eclectic style was paired with a gold waist band and gold leaf choker to enhance the look.
These are probably 3 of my favourite outfits from the CFDAs but I am sure you all want to see the weird and wonderful outfits of the night as well . . .

With Paris Fashion Week in full swing and lots of other exciting events happening, we thought we’d round-up our top 5 favourite fashion moments of the week. Enjoy!
The hottest actress of the moment, Jessica Chastain, looked the epitome of elegance at the Chanel Fall/Winter 2013-14 catwalk show in Paris. Jessica worked the monochrome trend pairing a white frilly shirt with a black pencil skirt and a classic Chanel bag.
Lucy Meck is another celeb who has been wearing white this week. The lovely Lucy arrived at New Magazine’s 10th Anniversary looking gorgeous in a white collared skater dress and black pointed heels.
Jessica Alba jetted in from LA to attend Paris Fashion Week. The stunning actress wore a black peplum blazer with black skinny trousers and a white shirt to the Stella McCartney show.
A flawless Lily Collins attended the Louis Vuitton catwalk show at Paris Fashion Week in a beautiful gold and black dress paired with chic black accessories.
Fashionista Olivia Palermo looked super stylish at Dior in a pink and black striped dress with a black tuile. Olivia brought the look together with red lipstick, a black fur coat and amazing pointed shoes.
We’ll bring you more great looks next week. Watch this space!
How’s your week going? If you want to improve it, maybe you need to take time out to escape into another world. Gossip is good for you!
However, it has to be juicy gossip, doesn’t it? I can’t stand searching a site for something controversial and seeing a lot of fluff. That’s why we’re starting a new feature to find the best stories for you, summarising them in one place and telling you where to go if you want to know more.
TUESDAY 12 FEBRUARY
Things get hot when Bradley Cooper and Alice Eve are seen bumping and grinding on the dance floor at The Weinstein Company’s post BAFTA party. We’re pretty certain every woman was fuming with jealousy at the sight of this- Alice is one lucky lady! Click here for the low-down.
Adele and Ed Sheeran give Chris Brown glaring looks as he remains seated after losing against, rivalry, Frank Ocean for Best Urban Contemporary Album at the Grammy Awards. His sore loser attitude is not surprising at all- click here to find out more.
Elton John couldn’t help admiring (nor could we!) Katy Perry’s lady humps in her stunning mint green Gucci gown at the Grammys on Sunday. Find out more on the uproar of Katy’s Grammy breasts here.
Tension heats up between Jessica Chastain and Jennifer Lawrence as an insider has claimed that Jessica feels Jennifer is stealing her thunder! Jennifer’s debut on Saturday Night Live (SNL) did not go down well with Jessica either, saying ‘more like Jessica Chast-ain’t winning no Oscar on my watch’. We think these two beauts are both equally worthy, click here to find out more.
It looks like Chris Brown can’t get enough of the headlines lately (granted low-brown instead of low-down, your welcome!). After arriving separately at the Grammys, Chris Brown and Rihanna were the talk of the night after showing some serious love and affection in the audience. Meanwhile, Chris crashes his Porsche into a wall in LA the night before the show, claiming paparazzi cut him off. Click here for the low-brown.
I think Harry Styles got the hint when Taylor Swift said ‘We are Never Ever Getting Back Together’ whilst mocking a British accent in her opening performance at the Grammy Awards. Ouch. For more on this, click here.
After scooping up three Grammys on Sunday night, Kelly Clarkson ‘successfully’ photo bombs Ellen DeGeneres and Portia Di Rossi. Kelly is definitely our kind of gal- winner of best photo! Check it out, here.
Red carpet beauty, Jessica Chastain, was a knock-out when she arrived at the BAFTA awards ceremony last night in London.
The Zero Dark Thirty actress stunned in a jaw-droppingly gorgeous blue gown. Jessica always gets it right on the red carpet, but we’ve completely fallen head over heels for this enchanting gown.
So, if you want to turn heads, just like Jessica, at a posh party or elegant event then look no further! Check out this similar dress we’ve found from Coast for £160. The price tag may be a bit hefty, but this sophisticated dress will last you for years to come and will always be sure to make you stand out.
Match with some simple strappy heels and a classic clutch bag to complete the look – you’ll be shining like a Hollywood star all night!
Eddie Redmayne threw up on the red carpet, Nicholas Hoult fluffed his lines and Anne Hathaway cried more than Julia Roberts did at the Oscars. Through all the hiccups of last nights BAFTA awards ceremony, it was still an amazing event, with the most deserving actors, actresses and directors rightfully picking up awards.
Ben Affleck scored twice for Argo, Daniel Day-Lewis picked up the best actor award for Lincoln, Skyfall won numerous gold masks, Anne Hathaway picked up best supporting actress and home grown talent, Juno Temple won the BAFTA rising star accolade.
Although the rain beat down hard in our nation’s capital, the A-Listers still walked the red carpet with a million dollar smile on their faces.
