• Dancing On Ice Line Up Revealed

The BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing is almost over for the year and this means it’s time for it’s edgier, sharper and bloodier sister on ITV- Dancing on Ice is back, everyone!

We’re most excited about Pamela Anderson (above) and we predict she will get lots of votes from all the people that grew up watching her on Baywatch. We might even cough up some cash and vote for her once at the Live Like a VIP office.

Also in the line-up is ex The Only Way is Essex contestant Lauren Goodger but we’re not convinced she will last that long. She was not at all popular on TOWIE – will people pick up the phone and vote for her?

But we do have high hopes for Welsh rugby star Gareth Thomas. He’s been in Celeb Big Brother so he knows the reality TV format and he looks good in lycra. Check out those muscles…

    The full line-up is:

    Pamela Anderson & Matt Evers

    Anthea Turner & Andrew Buchanan

    Samia Ghadie & Sylvain Longchambon

    Beth Tweddle & Dan Whiston

    Lauren Goodger & Michael Zenezini

Baroness King of Bow & Mark Henretty

    Matt Kapinskas & Brianne Delcourt

    Shayne Ward & Maria Filippov

    Joe Pasquale & Vicky Ogden

    Luke Campbell & Jenna Harrison

    Keith Chegwin & Olga Sharutenko

    Gareth Thomas & Robin Johnstone

Wiggins Wins Sports Personality Of The Year Award

Tour De France and Olympic cyclist Bradley Wiggins picked up the sports personality of the year last night. And although we love Jessica Ennis, who came second, we have to admire Wiggins acceptance speech.

Firstly, he thanked his grandmother who he said ‘pushed redial’ so much to vote for him and said he would pay her back the phone call fee. Secondly, he said: ‘I’m not going to swear tonight so I’m just going to say thank you very much to everyone who picked up the phone and voted. We have had all that jungle stuff and X Factor so thank you to all the people who picked up the phone and paid their £1.50.’

He’s humble as well as in touch with what’s going on in the world…even if Jessica is better looking.

  • Pregnancy Watch: The Saturdays Rochelle Wiseman

We’re feeling so warm and festive right now even the little things makes us go awwwww. Including this photo of Saturdays singer Rochelle Wiseman leaving the Mayfair Hotel, proudly ditching her heels for sensible flats now she is pregnant. Now that’s dedication for you. The moment you switch heels for flats is a sign you’re excited about being a mum.

Rochelle and her JLS singer husband Marvin are due to welcome their new arrival in March / April so we just thought we’d keep an eye on things for you. And so far there’s not much sign of a bump at all. Sorry! But we still think she looks gorgeous, don’t you?

  • VIP Christmas Film: The Hobbit Royal Premiere

Cate Blanchett looked almost bride like as she walked the green carpet at The Hobbit film premiere in Leicester Square. The actress, who plays Galdriel, could now well spark a P-Middy (ie Pippa Middleton) derrierre craze as her backless Givency gown flattered her figure in all the right places. Here’s a closer look:

We don’t know where you can get a dress like this unless you have a lot of money, let’s be honest, but we do know the secret to how she keeps  her figure in shape. The Australian actress told us she was a big fan of Pilates and bikram yoga. Maybe that’s something to bear in mind over the festive season.

Cate was rewarded for her fashion efforts with a greeting from Prince William, who gave the premiere a royal seal of endorsement. Sadly he was without his wife Kate, who is still battling morning sickness, but William put on a brave face for the press and photographers. He’s such a good ambassador for the UK – the show must go on and all that.

And talking of good role models, we do love Andy Serkis (Gollum).

Andy spent almost as long as Tom Cruise signing autographs for fans, despite the bitter cold. However, he did reveal to us he had thermal underwear from M&S. We’re not sure if he was joking or not, but we’re not mocking it. We’re just impressed by his commitment to fans.

On the other hand, we weren’t impressed by McFly’s outfits. As the carpet was green and they were wearing red, we thought it was festive but they look a bit like little elves. And the velvet looks itchy…Sorry, guys.

And talking of fashion no-nos,what happened to JB from JLS’s bow tie. His gorgeous girlfriend Chloe Tagney was half-grinning and half-thinking she wished she could grab the tie and straighten it out. Bless! We’re a bit psychic with relationships and pregnancies (ie we knew Kate Middleton was pregnant ages ago) and we just KNOW an engagement announcement will come from this couple over Christmas and New Year. What do you think?

And will you be watching the film? Tweet us @zoegriffin to let us know what you are thinking or you can also email zoe@livelikeavip.com

In the meantime, watch a trailer of the film here

VIP West End Musical Tip: Spice Girls

Just when you thought they would never have another comeback the Spice Girls reunited last night to attend the press night of the musical based on their songs. We thought the comeback tour was their final goodbye then they did the Olympics closing ceremony and now this. What’s next? A concert on the moon?

However, the night started with a bit of drama as only four of the women (they’re not girls any longer) arrived together. After we stopped questioning what on earth was Geri thinking with her dress, we wondered where was our favourite Spice, Victoria? She turned up late with hubby David and her family and then actually left before the show and hardly posed for any pics with the rest of the girls. Strange?

The night wasn’t really about gossip, we just wanted to see if it’s worth the ticket prices. It’s booked up so much that only £57 and £86 tickets are currently available online. EEEK!

This is the cast – Hannah John Kamen plays Viva and she is  joined by Lucy Phelps, Dominique Provost-Chalkley and Siobhan Athwa, who play her friends.

Viva and her pals put a video of themselves performing a song on YouTube and then they’re head-hunted for a TV talent show. There’s pressure for Viva to go solo, but her mother protects her like a lioness because there’s a secret she doesn’t want the media to get hold of.

There’s drama about tattoos, about going solo, about how fame tests friendships and mother-daughter relationships and it’s actually deeper than you’d expect from a musical based on songs from a girlband written by a comedienne (Jennifer Saunders). If you’re worried about anyone craving to be famous for the sake of being famous, take them to this show and they may learn that fame without a talent to back it up is not all its cracked up to be.

Book tickets here if you fancy it.

We all like to look our best, but some of us (namely celebrities) want to look better than others.  Gary Cockerill understands this more than anyone else as he does the make up of tons of glamorous celebrities and Jordan. Now he’s got a range  of fabulous false lashes last night, which he launched in London in style.

Olympian Rebecca Adlington mingled with TV’s Melanie Sykes and chef Aldo Zilli, such is Gary’s diverse appeal. There are 16 different styles in the range so there is something for everyone – although the party look is my personal fave. I want to look like the models on Gary’s posters:

  • Theatre Review: Steve Truglia’s Card Shark Show

If, like me, you have seen most of the West End musicals (or maybe you don’t like singing that much) but you still want a sophisticated evening at the theatre then you will love the Card Shark show. Held at the Mayfair Hotel, it’s in an ideal location for drinks before the show and dinner after. And I bet a lot of you will be tempted to visit the Palm Casino next to the hotel at some point after watching the show.

Ok, this is not like a normal review. By now you know I liked it. But maybe I should tell you exactly why I liked it and why there is a smile on my face in the photo below. It’s a naughty smile – I’m plotting who I can hustle with my new playing cards now I know a bit about the history of gambling and card mechanics.

I like to think I am a good poker player (having a 2.1 maths degree from Bristol University helps with the numbers) but Steve Truglia, the card shark, explains it is all about lightness of hand.

Steve holds the audience’s attention despite a slightly dodgy costume for just over an hour, which is no easy task given that he’s the only person on stage for most of that time. The audience gets facts about the history of magic and card tricks dating back to the 16th century without it actually feeling like a history lesson. There is a camera above his head for most of the show, which you might imagine is pre-recorded and fixed, so people in the front row are invited on stage. Be careful where you sit!

My favourite part: Steve pedicted the number on a dice rolled by people throughout the audience by ‘reading their body language’. Personally, I do wonder if there was a vibration device inside the dice that told him what way up it was as he did stall a while when ‘reading’ the volunteers’ expressions. But it was an entertaining trick.

Check out the Steve Truglia Card Shark Show website for more details and booking times. It runs on selected dates throughout Decemeber and into March. Here’s a little teaser:

  • VIP Theatre: The Bodyguard Musical Has Opened

    Celebrity Theatre | The Bodyguard

Anyone who hasn’t seen The Bodyguard film has not lived. Seeing Kevin Costner take a bullet for Whitney Houston is a classic, girly sighing moment. Now, the story of a bitchy and difficult singer and her bodyguard has come to life on the boards of the West End theatre.

You can buy tickets for the show at London’s Adelphi Theatre NOW.  Visit the official Bodyguard website for more details. Here’s a preview of what you might see.

If you have never seen the movie (shame on you), then here is a little breakdown of the plot:

Former Secret Service agent turned bodyguard, Frank Farmer (Lloyd Owen), is hired to protect superstar Rachel Marron (Heather Headley) from an unknown stalker.

Each expects to be in charge – what they don’t expect is to fall in love.

A romantic thriller, The Bodyguard features many of the late Whitney Houston’s greatest hits, including Queen of the Night, One Moment in Time, Saving All My Love,  I Have Nothing, How Will I Know, I Wanna Dance With Somebody and one of the greatest hit songs of all time – I Will Always Love You.

As one of our favourite films of all time (yes, really), we couldn’t recommend the musical more. There is love, hate and power ballads – what more could you want?

  • VIP Awards: Red Hot Women Awards 2012

Celebrity Awards | Red Hot Women Awards 2012

Some of the UK’s hottest celebrities squeezed their booties into new frocks and threw on their best high heels for Red magazine’s Red Hot Women Awards at One Marylebone yesterday afternoon. Louise Redknapp looked just as good yesterday as she did in the Eternal days with a figure hugging Victoria Beckham dress. If we wear a dress like that do you think we could bag someone as fit as Jamie?

Radio DJ Lauren Laverne presented the awards and looked pretty in a floral shift dress. The ex-singer said she is looking forward to 2013 as she will be doing another project with her 10’oclock live co-presenters – we are mega excited!

Veteran Radio 1 DJ Jo Whiley was possibly the coolest mummy there. The DJ, who doesn’t seem to have aged a day said she uses Nivea face cream, and she has done for about fifteen years. That’s convinced us, we’re off toBoots.

Celeb chef Gizzi Erskine looked her usual 60s self, with the beehive firmly held in place. Gizzi looked stunning and we had to ask how she keeps that beehive so perfect and neat. The chef said she uses about a can a week of Loreal Elnett, as it is the only hairspray to keep her hair rock solid without damaging it. Now we know what holds it in place, we had better star beehive practicing.
