VIP Hair: Sinead Kelly Hair London Review

Which celebrity do you look at as a hair role model? My top three are Holly Willoughby, Davina McCall and Rosie Huntington-Whitely as they’ve all got great shape and volume as well as bright yet natural-looking colour in their hair. What’s more is that their coloured hair always looks glossy. How do they do this?

    hols

When I found out that Holly Willoughby is a regular at the Sinead Kelly London Hairdressing salon in Barnes, West London, I knew I had to visit to see what her secret was. Could Sinead and her team find me a colour that wouldn’t dry out my hair? I’ve got naturally dark brown hair that’s so dark that it’s almost black. After my sister bleached her hair and dried it out so badly that it fell out, I’ve been wary about colouring it. In fact, the last time I coloured it was 10 years ago. However, with summer coming up and with that my wedding in July, it’s about time I started experimenting with different styles. And if I’m going to try colour, I might as well see how the experts do it.

This is how my hair looked when I walked into the salon:

If you’re feeling curious, scroll down to the end of this blog post to see the After pics…

But first, I wanted to talk you through the process as this salon excels in customer service. Staff are very keen to help you achieve your hair goals as there was a very thorough consultation process. They asked to see photos of how I wanted my hair and I gave them images of long bobs – Davina McCall and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley style. The colour I liked was the honey blonde tones of Jessica Alba. After, I’d told them what I wanted they made suggestions about what would actually work on my hair. I was told that I could pull off a long bob as long as it was kept simple because I have a lot of hair and layering would mess it up. I was also told that balayage would be best for my hair with some lighter brown and caramel colours added to the middle and ends of my hair.

Sinead and her team also recommended something that I’d never really heard of before. This was Olaplex. Have you heard of Olaplex? It’s a revolutionary treatment that keeps dyed hair as shiny as virgin hair – if not more shiny. Kim Kardashian used it when she went from dark to platinum blonde and Khloe Kardashian is also a fan. Sinead’s used it herself and she has gorgeous blonde hair that’s in fantastic condition.

    olaplex

After the consultation, Sinead gave my hair a trim so that the colour would take better and then I was left in the capable hands of the salon’s manager, Natasha Curry. My hair was washed, conditioned and then the colour was applied, mixed with the first Olaplex stage (bond multiplier).

    zoe-olaplex

After the colour was rinsed out, the second Olaplex treatment was applied (bond perfector). The third step (hair perfector) would be for me to use at home once a week like a hair mask.

Then I was transferred into the capable hands of senior stylist Sarah Jackson who cut the shape of my long bob. I was slightly scared by how much was coming off but I couldn’t fault the result. When she blow-dried it to create soft waves I felt like Cindy Crawford in her prime. My hair had volume, body and shine!

    zoe-after

Now let’s compare the Before and After pics in more detail:

    b4-after1

    b4-after2

I was really happy with the cut and blow dry and the fact that my hair and been dyed and looked healthy and glossy was the icing on the cake.  I loved it so much that I’m already planning my next visit. When you’ve found somewhere you like, why go anywhere else?

Also, a couple of days after I visited, the Sinead Kelly London hairdressing team were awarded first place in the London regional heat of the L’Oréal Colour Trophy Awards 2016. Colourist Vas Mikellides and stylist Sara Bergantini fought off strong competition and wowed a panel of high-profile award-winning judges with their Autumn/Winter 2016/17 fashion-inspired look and were the only independent salon in London to reach the L’Oréal Colour Trophy Grand Final event in June.

If you’re thinking about dying your hair, you need to visit Sinead Kelly’s London salon and have an Olaplex treatment. Check out the Sinead Kelly London website for more details.

  • VIP Beauty: Look Your Best Every Day

I don’t know any woman who wouldn’t want to look her best every day. The only issue with looking your best every day, is that it takes more time and effort. However, if you put the effort into your self-care, you won’t have to put all that much more effort in when getting ready for the day ahead. These tips will help you to look your best every single day:

Be Mindful Of What You Eat

The things we eat will eventually become us. If you’re eating lots of fast food, junk, sugars, and things like that, you’re going to put on weight. You’re going to get bad skin. You might even get greasy hair, rotted teeth…the list goes on. At the very least, you won’t have the same healthy glow that somebody who fills their diet with veggies has. Be mindful of what you eat, and keep treats limited. Be sensible. Ask yourself whether the food you are eating is nourishing and fueling you. Do you really need that cake or chocolate bar? It can be hard to break old habits with food, but it’ll definitely be worth it if you want to look your best every single day!

    yoga-at-beach-618x412

    Get Some Exercise

Exercise goes hand in hand with a good diet. The diet is the most important thing, which is why you should get that down as soon as possible. That doesn’t mean you should avoid exercise while you’re sorting your diet out though. Get varied exercise in your lifestyle and you’ll feel and look amazing. It isn’t all about cardio either. Strength training can shape your body in amazing ways! Ultimately, you need to make sure you’re doing things you enjoy, or you won’t’ stick to it. You need to get into a routine you’ll stick to if you want to look your best every day.

    Look After Your Smile

Your smile is one of the first things people notice about you. Make sure you’re looking after it. Avoid food and drink that can stain, and visit the dentist regularly. You can even buy stuff to do it at home, like tooth whitening strips. You can get more tips from places like www.teethwhiteningathometips.com/. Make sure you only ever use stuff you know to be safe on your teeth!

Take Good Care Of Your Skin

Having smooth, supple skin will ensure you look flawless every day too. Cleanse, tone moisturise, exfoliate, and use masks. Make sure you use products that suit your skin type to get the best results possible.

    Carry Yourself Well

The way you carry yourself will play a big part in how good you look. You could look amazing, but if you don’t feel confident and carry it off, you won’t look your best. You could also leave the house wearing scruffy clothes and no makeup, but if you’re carrying yourself well, you’ll pull it off.

    Wear Clothes You Love

Wearing clothes you love will make you feel amazing. They say something about you and your personality!

Ready to look your best every day?

VIP Hair: Top 5 London Blow Dries

When my hair feels good, I feel good! Nothing beats a bit of bounce in your hair to put a spring in your step and a smile on your face. That’s why I’m on a mission to find London’s best blow dry.

At this point, I must apologise to readers who don’t live anywhere near the capital. If you’re coming to London for a party or a day out then make a note of these places for future reference. You won’t get a bad ‘do’ at any of the salons listed below. And if you’re not coming to London, then check out the blow dries offered by your nearest independent salon and see what’s won awards. As a rule of thumb, avoid chains like Toni & Guy / Essensuals etc as my experiences have found the smaller salons put more work into it.

In order of preference, this is what I recommend if you want shiny, happy hair that makes you feel like an A’list celebrity:

    1. Cobella

    zoecobella1

One of my favourite things about Cobella is that they’re quick, which is great if you’re trying to fit a blow dry into a busy day. There’s a great head massage when they’re washing your hair and the products they use smell divine that day and the day after. In fact, you could get three days out of one blowdry.

What I liked most is that they leave my hair big yet smooth. I’m not a big fan of beach waves as my hair has a tendency to frizz. However, there’s nothing more depressing than flat hair. The Cobella team always use the hairdryer on wet hair so you get the sleek look and then add some extra waves with tongs afterwards.

    COST: From £31

LOCATION: 5 Kensington High Street, London. Phone 020 7937 8888. Visit the Cobella Website for more details.

    2. Blow At Home

    hero_image

While I love visiting a salon, drinking tea and having a good chat, I don’t always like travelling there. If it’s raining, I get in a really bad mood – worried that my carefully coiffed hair will be damaged on the way home. For that reason, Blow Beauty on Demand is my go-to service in colder weather.

It’s as easy to book as an Uber. Simply download the App from the App store, request the service and they’ll come to your home, office or gym as long as it’s within London zones 1 – 3. I like to get them to come to the gym as then my hair’s freshly washed and I don’t have to tidy my home. Get it done in the morning and you’ll feel fabulous all day long.

COST: £40 for a blow-dry. Other services inc make-up and manicures are available.

LOCATION: The App store! Or visit the Blow website.

    3. Leticia Haute Coiffure

    zoe-leticia-haute-coiffure

If my day involves meetings in central London, Pierre Doumit at Leticia Haute Coiffure is a man I can trust to make me look gorgeous. He instinctively knows how I’m feeling and suggests hair styles to match. Normally, I opt for the same hair style all the time, but Pierre persuades me to try new things and I’m always happy with the results, leaving the salon feeling like a new person.

If I’m in a rush, he can turn me round in between 15-20 minutes. I’ve never known anyone to be as quick. Nothing’s ever rushed, I never feel stressed and yet I can be in and out in less time than it takes to eat lunch.

COST: Creative director Pierre charges from £40 but other stylists are available. They also offer amazing massages.

LOCATION: 59 Chiltern Street, London W1U 6NF. Visit the Leticia Haute Coiffure website.

    Duck and Dry

    duck

Three words: ‘Prosecco on Tap’.  Duck and Dry is London’s most fun blow dry, where I go if I want to get the party started early. It’s a great place to meet a friend so you can both get glammed up together before you hit a party or a bar / restaurant.

The downside is you do have to choose from a blow dry menu, but there are plenty of styles so there should be something to suit all tastes. I usually go for the High Tides Waves style.

COST: From £30 (and £6 per glass of Prosecco)

LOCATION: 333-335 King’s Road, London SW3 5ES. Visit the Duck and Dry website.

    Blo London (by Alis Prrul)

    zoe-blowdry

I used to pop in to Blo London in Covent Garden’s piazza from time to time, as it was centrally located and the staff were super friendly. Sadly, Blo London has now closed but I’m happy to say that my favourite stylist, Alis, is setting up on her own and visiting people’s houses / offices.

Alis can calm me down if I’m feeling stressed and she knows what to say to take my mind off a busy day. But most importantly, she can create big, smooth curls and I swear the way she does my hair makes me look younger. As testament to her professionalism and no-fuss attitude, she can work with limited equipment as a hairdryer almost blew up in her hand during one of my visits and she simply found another one and carried on.

    COST: £30

LOCATION: Alis will come to your house / office or you could visit her if you’re near Stratford. Email alis.pruul@gmail.com

Top 5 Ways To Live Like A VIP In Pregnancy

How do you Live Like a VIP during pregnancy? This is a question I’ve been asking myself a lot recently as I’m currently six months pregnant. I know that I have to compromise on some things like Champagne and sushi, but I don’t want my lifestyle to change completely.

Health, fashion and beauty are all still super important subjects to me and I feel even more of a need to look after my body now that I’m responsible for a little one inside of me.

    zoe-palmersimage

Since Live Like a VIP started in 2010, I’ve looked at what celebs are doing to get inspiration for what we can do to improve our grooming and style regimes. Recently, I’ve been paying more attention to pregnant celebs and this is what I’ve learned:

    (1) Fashion

Celebs don’t hibernate when they’re pregnant. They have work to do, just like us, and that normally involves having film or still cameras turned on them. I remember seeing Sophie Ellis Bextor during her pregnancies (she’s had 4) and she dressed to enhance her bump beautifully in printed maxi dresses and A’line midi dresses. I feel more feminine now I’m pregnant, and like Sophie I’m ditching the jeans for dresses as looking good makes me feel good.

    24weeks-zoe

    (2) Beauty

Pregnancy results in the same sort of symptoms, whether you’re famous or not. Stretch marks don’t discriminate between celebs and the rest of us – anyone can get them. The campaign Jennifer Love Hewitt is doing with Palmer’s Stretch Marks Range is really inspiring me. She says that she used Palmer’s during both her pregnancies twice a day and they really worked for her, helping her to avoid stretch marks and keep the skin on her bump soft and youthful. In fact, she loved them so much she became their brand ambassador and you can see an interview with her on the Palmer’s Lovely Tummies website. I’ve started using Palmer’s Massage Lotion followed by Palmer’s Tummy Butter twice a day and I’m addicted.

    SM Range

I love how it feels on my skin and I love the smell, as its cocoa butter ingredient makes it smell just like chocolate. The Tummy Butter feels especially good as it’s a thick consistency, which melts as you warm it up and rub it over your skin –so luxurious!  With a little bit of luck, you could get to try it for free as Palmer’s is hosting a weekly competition on their social media channels where you could win a Palmer’s Mother & Baby pamper pack worth £65. All you have to do is take a photo of you and your lovely baby bump and either upload it to the relevant post on the Palmer’s UK Facebook page, or share it on Twitter or Instagram with #LovelyTummies and @PalmersUK. Ts&Cs: http://lovelytummies.palmers.com/competition-terms-and-conditions

    (3) Exercise

Exercise is great for both you and your unborn baby in pregnancy. I know it’s hard to get motivated when you’re bigger but look at this photo The Hills star Kristin Cavallari posted to Instagram – she looks fab!

    Kristin-Cavallari-Gym-instagram-560x560

Just 30 minutes of exercise a day can improve oxygen flow to your baby, regulate pregnancy weight gain and shorten labour time.

    (4) Diet

I recently read a People magazine interview with Zooey Deschanel, who talked about how she’s constantly hungry. “I’m used to being able to go long periods of time without eating,’ she said. ‘Now I’ll wake up hungry sometimes, and I’m like, ‘What? I’ve never woken up hungry in my life!’ Every day I wake up, and I’m like, ‘Breakfast, please!’ This quote made me laugh as I’ve experienced the same thing. To avoid reaching for junk food, I make sure my fridge is stocked with lots of lovely berries – strawberries, blueberries and raspberries – which I enjoy snacking on.

    photo (61)

I’m convinced that three smaller meals a day with snacks in between is better for me than three larger meals because it ensures I have enough energy to get through the day.

    (5) Pampering

Celebs love their spa days and so do I! Jessica Alba has talked about how she found it helpful to get pregnancy massages, and after reading that I felt I had to do the same.

    Spa_Garden_Rockliffe_Hall_Dusk2

Recently I had a mini-break at Rockliffe Hall in North Yorkshire and after lounging by their gorgeous pool (above); I took 60 minutes out for a blissful pregnancy massage. The therapist soothed all those niggling aches and pains I get in my lower back as a result of pregnancy.

    Palmers (1)

Palmer’s multi-award winning stretch marks range helps boost skin’s elasticity and moisture.  The 3 products of the range contain Bio C-Elaste®, a combination of natural ingredients including Argan Oil, Almond Oil, Collagen and Elastin blended to leave your skin beautifully soft, smooth and supple during pregnancy.

    VIP Beauty: The Waxing Specialist

Waxing is one of those subjects that nobody really likes talking about. People like to pretend that they’re naturally blessed with smooth skin, as excessive hair is seen as manly, almost beast like. But do you reckon the celebs get waxed? Of course they do!

I’ve always been on a mission to get the best in life like the celebs do and that applies to waxing. It was for this reason that I visited The Waxing Specialist in London, as it has a fantastic reputation for delivering quick (always good!), fuss-free waxing that’s appropriate for all skin-types, including pregnant ladies with extra sensitive skin.

    waxing2

My first impression of The Waxing Specialist was a good one as the décor (above) is spa-like in the fact it’s so pretty and girly. You wouldn’t associate the the purple cushioned chairs and feminine touches of the waiting room with something so painful as waxing and the owner of the salon, Marta Zaczkowska, told me it’s a place where women come to gossip. As there are two rooms, you can go at the same time as a friend, chill out in the waiting room and go to separate rooms to get waxed.

Or, if like me, you don’t have much time to fit in a waxing treatment into your weekly schedule then you’ll be pleased to hear that The Waxing Specialist have a reputation for their speed. Bikini waxes take less than 15 minutes so you can travel there in your lunchbreak or pop in on the way home without disrupting your day. The rooms are so pretty, it’s a nice place to lie for a while.

    waxing1

I tried the Pregnancy Wax. Firstly because I am six months pregnant, so it makes sense, and secondly because I had no idea there was such a thing as a pregnancy wax and I like trying new things. It turns out that there aren’t many salons in the UK offering this type of wax and The Waxing Specialist are pioneers, making them the best in their field. As I keep mentioning, I like the best things in life!

The wax itself was made more pleasant by the gorgeous smell of the hot Lycon product. I was treated to a chocolate smell as it was around Christmas and New Year time, but usually Marta uses strawberry flavour wax. The hot wax really rips the hair out from the roots and I saw the evidence of this myself by examining some of the strips that were pulled off. But it’s the extra touches that take a salon from good to amazing and one of those was the cleanliness of the salon. New stirrers are used each time Marta dips one into the wax to prevent bacteria. Another extra touch is that Marta uses a second wax treatment after the main wax. I found this completely pain-free and actually quite soothing. It has a jelly like consistency and pulls off really easily, but I still spotted some tiny hairs among the strips. It’s designed to ensure a completely fuzz free area, and means you walk out of the salon feeling super-confident and amazing.

I’m so glad I visited and I definitely plan to go back – life’s too short to waste it on going somewhere average when there are places like this around. For more details and a booking form, check out The Waxing Specialist’s website.

    The Truth About Age-Defying Beauty

Looking beautiful is something celebrities seem to have mastered as part of their careers. And some seem to be defying time by looking even more beautiful than they did years ago. Most of us struggle to figure out just how it is possible to look that good when they’ve been on the scene for decades. The truth isn’t simple. There are lots of ways to keep the signs of aging at bay.

One of the most effective ways to appear more youthful than your years is to stay fit and healthy. Those that work out regularly have more energy. This, in turn, will keep your movements smooth and agile. A good core and posture will keep you looking glamorous rather than slouching and old. Aim to work out three or four times per week. Stretching is just as important as weight training to give your body that youthful energy you’re looking for.

    Yoga-Pose-on-the-Beach1

Good nutrition is essential to our health. Making sure that your diet fulfills your nutritional needs can help you look and feel younger than you are. Fresh fruit and vegetables contain most of the vitamins and minerals your body needs. With all the right food groups in your diet, your skin can look healthier and younger. Your metabolism will improve, giving you vitality and energy. You will also fight off viruses and ill health more quickly.

    smoothies

Sleep is another factor affecting the quality of your skin. Plenty of quality sleep helps your skin regenerate. Other cells in the body are working to repair when you sleep too. Sleep rests our muscles after a workout and prepares your find for a full day. In the morning, exfoliate the dead skin cells away gently to reveal that beautiful fresh skin underneath.

    sleep_2925910b

Exercising and eating healthily go a long way to fighting the signs of aging. You should also keep your skin hydrated. Drinking plenty of water is also thought to stave off problems with cognitive function. Ideally, you should be getting eight glasses of H2O inside you every day. Try using hot water with a splash of lemon and lime juice on a cold day. This can help cleanse you from the inside out.

Of course, we all need a little help to get the most of our looks from time to time. This is where cosmetic surgery comes in. Fillers and Botox injections help ward off the tell-tale signs of aging for a while. You might choose to have liposuction or a facelift procedure. If you’re going to opt for surgery, then choose a leading plastic surgeon to take care of you. To sculpt your body and face to bring back the youthful lines, have a chat with your surgeon about the best procedure for you.

Celebrities may have the money to pay for the best personal trainers, beauty creams, and treatments. But there is plenty you can do within your budget to help keep your natural beauty glowing. We can all defy those years that keep passing by taking extra care with our diet and exercise. And the odd cosmetic procedure could be very helpful in keeping up with those celebrities.

    VIP Beauty: What Is Ultherapy?

What do Kim Kardashian and Courtney Cox have in common? They are both rumoured to be fans of Ultherapy – a non-invasive treatment for the face that lifts skin on the neck, under the chin and above the brow.

The treatment uses ultrasound to heat targeted tissue under the skin, triggering the natural production of collagen. But is it as good as it sounds? We had a Q&A with Lee Garrett, the UK’s leading skin guru based on London’s Harley Street, to find out more:

    Lee-Garret-Image

Can you tell me what makes Ultratherapy unique?

As we get older, our skin loosens and starts to sag. It’s part of the ageing process that we all dread so much but it’s inevitable. I have recently launched a new treatment into my clinic called Ultherapy which is described as many as the future of anti-ageing treatments – it’s technology is like no other. By using a high frequency ultrasound device, Ultherapy treats underneath the skin to the very deep layers where only until now plastic surgeons could reach. It’s accuracy is revolutionary, as a non invasive treatment that can take an accurate reading of the area to be treated. What also makes it unique is that it can be used to life the neck, chin, brow and improve lines and wrinkles on the décolletage. As the latest innovation of skin tightening, Ultherapy can offer a pain-free non surgical facelift with zero downtime.

Who would you recommend it for and is there anyone it wouldn’t suit?

This wouldn’t suit patients that are heavily sun damaged and smoke 20 a day since they were a teen! I would recommend it for patients that don’t want to have surgery but still want to look fresh and have youthful skin.

How long do the results last?

Results last 2 years and more in some cases. There is no down time. For those with busy lives it’s a fantastic treatment – you can be in and out without having to take the day off work and it can be done in an extended lunch break.

Is there anything which someone could do to boost the outcome?

I would advise using a professional skincare range such as ZO which will compliment the treatment.

Can you tell us about any other procedures which help with anti-ageing?

Line reducing injections help relax the facial muscles. Dermal fillers replace volume loss giving patients that youthful plumpness without the pillow face look.

In general, what are your top five skincare tips?

Drink plenty of water, don’t smoke, use SPF from the day you are born regardless of what season it is – this is imperative to looking after your skin. I would suggest only using scientifically proven products such as ZO. There are many products on the market but the majority of them won’t combat anti ageing and you will only be wasting your money. Having a skincare regime works – it’s simple and easy yet people are still lazy when it comes to looking after their skin. Also another tip is that prevention is better than cure. If you leave things too late no amount of creams will be able to get the results you want. This is why many people decide to have anti-wrinkle injections and fillers. It’s always a personal decision and one that needs to be made by the individual and my advice would be to always research who you are going to see and what they are offering. You must never be swayed by discounts or deals. Moreover each person has different requirements so if you are seeking some prevention treatments for the skin don’t be swayed by the latest celebrity craze – what is right for them may not be right for you. Reducing your sugar intake also makes a big difference as does exfoliating to get rid of the dead skin cells.

VIP Beauty: Perfect Eyelashes Book Launch

When your eyes look bright and wide awake, your face looks younger and fresher and you feel more confident. Changing something as simple as your eyelashes can affect your mood and self-confidence and I know this directly as it’s happened to me.

However, a lot of people are sceptical about lash extensions, mis-trusting then because they don’t know enough about them. And that’s where the new book comes in – Agnes Dos Santos has written the ultimate guide to what happens during lash application, what types of lashes are available and how they’re made, along with tons of endorsements from happy celebrity and journalist customers.
    book

And talking of happy customers, although I’m not in the book, I have photos of my own to share. I first discovered Perfect Eyelashes in 2013. and this is my first ever Before and After photo, showing me pre-lashes and post-lashes. What a transformation!

    lashes-2013

What sets Perfect Eyelashes apart from other eyelash extension applications is that the product is continually being improved, The lashes I first had were diamond lashes, which were super light and lasted for ages and at the time I thought they couldn’t be improved on.

Then in mid-2014 I tried the salon’s unique development, mink lashes with ombre tips at the side, So the sides of my lashes had flecks of blue that caught the light and drew everyone towards me. It was great for flirting!

    lashes-2014

This week, I tried the feather lashes, which are my ultimate favourites, They felt light on my eyes but they were so thick and luscious. I’m able to wake up and look naturally good without mascara – they make me look better and they save time in the mornings. Here’s a close-up:

    perfect-eyelashes-zoe

I was proud to show them off at the launch party, and I felt part of a celebrity club that adore Agnes Dos Santos and her talented Perfect Eyelashes team. Here are some of the VIP party guests:

VIP Hair: Edward James London Top Coat

    edward-james-interior

As we all lead increasingly busy lives, it’s more important than ever to take a bit of time out to pamper yourself. Do you have a favourite salon? Have you ever been to one of Edward James London’s locations in Clapham or Putney? It may turn out that Edward James London becomes your favourite salon after your first visit or at least one of your top three hair and beauty hangouts.

I visited the Putney salon, which is an oasis of calm and relaxation from the moment you walk in. As I closed the door and breathed in the fresh scents from Aveda candles and Aveda shampoo, my tense shoulders dropped and the noise and the stress from the busy London streets felt like a world away.

    Natural Interior- Edward James

    Products- Edward James

And that was just the start as further relaxation came from the stacks of up-to-date magazines and a glass of bubbly as I had the consultation.  I was there to try the Top Coat treatment, which promises up to six weeks of shiny hair. The treatment adds protein bonds to the hair initially followed by lots of natural oil and more proteins. It is 99% naturally derived so you get the shine without the harsh artificial chemicals.

I was delighted with the results, which are quite dramatic from this ‘Before and After’ picture.

It took 90 mins in total for the treatment to be left on the hair and for a bouncy blow dry after, but I had a lot of fun in the salon fuelled with Champagne, snacks and good chat from the hair stylist, Katie, who you can see in the second picture below.

Edward  James is a real innovator in the hair industry as he developed the much applauded British Blow Dry earlier this year – a natural take on the smoothing Brazilian blowdry.

Also, the celebs absolutely adore him. Cara Delevingne is one of his clients and she’s notoriously hard to please. However, the good thing about Edward and his team is that all ladies are made to feel like a superstar when they’re in the salon and everyone leaves with swishy, shiny model hair. Including me!

For more details visit the Edward James London website.

PS  You can combine your hair appointment with a massage or beauty treatment in the Moroccan inspired downstairs salon. I tried a mini massage before my treatment and the combination of the natural oils and firm touch was heavenly.

    VIP Hair: Leticia Haute Coiffure

    leticia-outside

Leticia Haute Coiffure is a gem of a salon, a short walk from Selfridges and from the celebrities’ favourite hangout, The Chiltern Firehouse.

I first met the salon’s International Creative Style Director Pierre Doumit at the London Lifestyle awards in 2010 and I have visited several times since for massage and hair services. Pierre has a unique talent and intuition when it comes to hair and can tell what style will suit you as soon as you walk through the door. And he doesn’t mess around – a fabulous looking blowdry can be created in 15 minutes (excluding wash time) and he can cut and blow dry in 30 minutes! You’ve barely sat down and finished your coffee by the time he’s finished, which is a Godsend for busy working women like me.

The speed is not an indication of quality as I can safely say it’s the best cut I’ve had in London and the time is just a bonus.

Pictures show this better so check out this Before and After photo. On the left, Pierre and I are at a fashion party in London and I’m so ashamed of my hair cut I have to scrape it into a bun. On the right, I’m beaming with happiness and really proud of my new ‘do’.

I felt really glamorous as I left the salon with shiny, bouncy, healthy hair. It improved my mood for the entire weekend and I received tons of compliments.

If you’d like to have the same feeling then what’s stopping you? You can’t use time as an excuse as it can be done in the time you take to drink your morning coffee. If you have to go to an after-work event then just swing your taxi past the salon and Pierre’s that quick he may even be able to do it while the meter’s running.

See the Leticia Haute Coiffure website for more details or check out their Wahanda page. Nothing beats the satisfaction of looking in the mirror and liking what you see.
