Do you find it difficult to exercise, work and have a social life? I am excited to announce that Fitness First has launched a new initiative that makes it easier to mix all three. You can join a Fitness First running route and run home from work – therefore avoiding a hard commute – and meet some nice other runners on the way, which adds to your social life. Plus, isn’t it much nicer to exercise outside during the summer months?
I joined Olympic medal winning cyclist Victoria Pendleton at Fitness First in Tottenham Court Road to find out more details about the running routes and how it all works.
When I got there, I found it wasn’t just Victoria. There was TV presenter AJ Ododu and Made in Chelsea star Ashley James. Celebs just love running (and if you don’t believe me, check out the photos at the end of this blog post).
A big benefit is that Fitness First will transport your bags to the finishing line. You drop the bags at the gym that you started at (near your workplace) and they’re driven to the gym near your home that you finish at (near your home). The route I did was Tottenham Court Road to Highbury, which is 7.5km. It wasn’t an easy route in the sun and I was sweating afterwards, but that added to the endorphin rush that I felt when it was just 715pm and I was near my home and I’d done all my exercise for the day. Plus it was nice to see a bit more of London, that you don’t get to see when you’re in underground on the Tube.
Right now, there are four routes – Bank to Clapham Junction (via Waterloo), Tottenham Court Road to Highbury, Liverpool Street to Stratford, and Canary Wharf to Waterloo. The cost is just £15 for 12 sessions (or free for Fitness First members) so it’s way cheaper than public transport too! Each route has runs twice a week, which will have a great effect on your fitness levels.
If you need any more motivation, just look at all the celebs who are getting in the jogging trend:
