The V&A is not only one of the most spectacular buildings in London, it has a reputation for hosting some unique exhibitions. Italian Fashion, the history of David Bowie, ancient Tudor Treasures – the V&A delves into detail into subjects that other museums skim over. And from 3 May 2014 until March 2015 there is an exhibition of wedding dresses. It dates back to the 18th century and the highlights are the dresses of some of the most star-studded weddings ever held.
I was invited by cheerful London socialite Basia Briggs to the private view of the collection, the night before it launched to the general public. Basia, pictured below with her very close friend and constant companion Daniel Topolski, is very wise about all things to do with love and relationships. I have to admit I did have to ask for her advice – I need all the help I can get if I am ever to get a man to marry me!
We had a lovely wonder round the magical venue as we chatted. How lovely are these flowers?
There were so many beautiful dresses to give any bride-to-be inspiration and any married woman a bit of nostalgia about their special day. If you’re thinking about whether to go or not, check out my top five dresses and I bet you’ll be convinced to go.
