From the 9th October, one of the biggest events on the London calendar, and THE biggest event in every film lovers calendar, will kick off with the Odeon Leicester Square screening of Captain Phillips. It is, of course, the BFI London Film Festival.
Over the 12 days of films, the likes of Daniel Radcliffe, Carey Milligan, Tom Hanks and Dame Judi Dench will be gracing the red carpets of Leicester Square, and although the first batch of tickets were snapped up within minutes, more tickets are set to be released tomorrow (Thursday 3rd October) at the Odeon West End box office and the BFI website.
If you’re thinking of heading there for the allure of meeting celebrities (rather than watching films) you don’t need a ticket to line the red carpet – just make sure you arrive early (I’d recommend at least two hours before the scheduled film start time) if you’re looking for a spot with a good view of the red carpet.
Some of the events we’ve identified as top of our Meet&Greet agenda are:
- Captain Phillips (Tom Hanks) – 9th Oct, 7pm: Odeon Leicester Square.
- Philomena Screens (Dame Judi Dench and Steve Coogan) – 16th Oct, 7.15pm: Odeon Leicester Square
- Kill Your Darlings (Daniel Radcliffe) – 17th Oct, 9pm: Odeon West End 2
- Saving Mr Banks (Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson) – 20th Oct, 7pm: Odeon Leicester Square
Another great way to see celeb VIPs over the 12 days of the festival is to attend the screen talks and Masterclasses (tickets subject to availability from the BFI website). Among our top picks are: actor and director Ralph Fiennes (Harry Potter franchise’s Lord Voldemort) on the 18th October at BFI, Southbank and British Cinema All Grown Up on the 19th October (also at BFI Southbank), panel to be confirmed.
Remember, more tickets on-sale 3rd October. Let us know who you manage to meet!
