I’ve always admired how Shakira managed to create the PERFECT boho look. And I think I have FINALLY found a way to copy her!
In the past, if I tried to do this to my hair it would just look like I had been dragged through a hedge backwards or forgotten to comb my hair. Shakira, on the other hand, has just the right combination of undone and ‘juged’ up. How does she do it?
I discovered the answer when I was sent some Love Label Deep Wavers to try out. They’re really cheap – just £23 from Very – and I have to admit I wasn’t expecting much when I agreed to test them. Could anything that good value actually work?
But I dutifully got them out the box and got to work in my bedroom to set free my inner Shakira. The first thing that intrigued me was the shape. If you look at the photo below, you can see that the right side of the device is a curved upwards while the left side contains a big gap. They’re like straighteners with a hill on top – acting like a mould for the hair to set it into a wave shape.
I used a YouTube video to show me how I should use them properly and then I found it really easy. Anyone could do it, to be honest.
So how did it turn out? I’ll let you judge that from the photo below but I was pretty pleased bearing in mind it was my first attempt. Next time, I’d use some more hairspray to create more volume and backcomb at the roots. But you get better as you go on.
And it’s not just Shakira and I that are crazy about big waves this summer. Kim Kardashian loves a deep wave and I’ve seen the Olsen twins and Nicole Richie with the relaxed boho style as well. The trend is even going on in the Big Brother house and I genuinely like how Gina Rio styles her hair.
Then I found out Gina actually used the Love Label Deep Waver because Very supply all the furniture and gadgets to the Big Brother house. That was a cool coincedence!
It’s not everyday you get such a great tool for £23. What do you think?
