Recently, I have been to lots of parties where the most famous people were reality TV stars. Now I love reality TV but when it gets to the stage where you’re hanging out with TOWIE stars and Made in Chelsea stars at least three nights a week it gets a bit weird. So thank goodness for last night’s Glamour Woman of The Year Awards where the marquee in London’s posh Berkeley Square was packed with strong powerful women.
I feel truly honoured to be part of such a glamorous night so this is quite a long blog post of all the best bits. Read on!
I always love it when there is a bit of drama and it seemed there was a bit of awkwardness when Rita Ora (winner of best solo artist) turned up in a v similar outfit to Amanda Holden. Who wore it best? In my opinion, Rita won hands down.
2. Victoria Beckham
Victoria won the night’s biggest honour – woman of the decade. Yes decade! That must have made her feel slightly old. Also the fact that her son Brooklyn, who was clapping loudly for his mum, is also as tall as her. How has time gone so quickly, I remember when he was born and now he’s 15!
3. Joan Collins
You’re never meant to ask a woman her age but I know that Joan Collins is 80. I asked her how she managed to look so fab and she said her tip was to make her own clothes so they fitted her better. She designed her white suit (above) and it certainly did flatter her in all the right places. She should launch her old clothing line!
4. The Sugababes
There have been many rumours the original Sugababe line-up of Siobhan, Mutya and Keisha (above) are reforming and then it went quiet so it was sooo cool to see them as a trio last night. I used to love them (especially Round, Round) but be warned – they’re still ‘working on’ new tracks. Hurry up, ladies!
5. Fearne Cotton
New mum Fearne Cotton looked incredible! Where’s the baby weight? She said that an hour earlier she was in a tracksuit with baby sick all over her. Really?! I love her shiny blonde hair too, she almost looks better than before she was pregnant.
6. Jessie J
Jessie got a lot of criticism for her blue trouser suit but when you saw it in real-life it was tons better. Honest! The only thing I would say is Jessie, currently hard at work on The Voice on BBC1 is looking rather skinny right now. She needed that 3 course dinner at the awards and seconds…and probably thirds. I always think women look better with some curves.
8. Kylie Minogue
Does Kylie Minogue defy age? She was at the ceremony to present the Best Actress award to Rebel Wilson looking like a 20 something…not a 40 something. She said her most glamorous woman role model was her mum. Bless!
8. Rebel Wilson
I know this is probably stating the obvious but Rebel Wilson is as funny in real life as you see on the films. Trust me. I can’t actually pinpoint what she actually said to me that was funny (it had been a long night by the time we met) but she was just enjoying the attention and making jokes about the award. She says she doesn’t deserve it but I think she’s the ideal winner. Love her! I mean, she was the best character in Bridesmaids by far.
9. Jourdan Dunn and Cara Delevigne
Models of the moment Jourdan Dunn and Cara Delevigne got up to some girl on girl action on the red carpet, which is actually quite normal for Cara. To be honest, I’m getting a bit bored of it. When doesn’t she do this? Later in the night Cara cuddled up to her BFF Rita Ora. More cuddles for her, more yawns for us…it’s not shocking any more, Cara.
10. The Saturdays minus Rochelle
And finally, I had to hand it to the Saturdays for picking the brightest outfits of the night. Honestly, Mollie’s dress was a bit weird and I am truly surprised there was no wardrobe malfunction but Una Healy took my breath away. At first I thought she was Hollywood actress Jessica Chastain. The girls have been together for five years now…only another five and they could be in a chance of winning the women of the decade honour like Victoria Beckham.
