London Yesterday: Nicola Roberts Visits Parliament

The Event: Nicola Roberts launches Beat Bullying campaign

The Venue: Houses of Parliament, Westminster

The VIPs: Nicola Roberts, Education Secretary Michael Gove

The Gossip: (1) This was a meeting that Nicola FOUGHT to get. She’s been talking in TV interviews for ages about how she wants to meet the education secretary Michael Gove to address bullying in schools and she’s been ranting on Twitter a lot too. After tweeting things like ‘Dear Micheal Gove.. I know your busy but CALL. ME. BACK! #RIPSophie #EducationSecretary‘ it seems Michael finally listened as Nicola was granted a 1 on 1 with him yesterday.

(2) Nicola is definitely the most eloquent out of Girls Aloud as bullying is a cause close to her heart, so we hope Michael Gove took notice. We took notice of her when she talked about the subject on the Andrew Neil TV show recently.

(3) Nicola also took her fans problems to Michael, asking her Facebook fans and visitors to her website to share their experiences of bullying. In a post on her Facebook page, Nic writes, Can you help me? On Monday I am finally meeting Michael Gove the Educational Secretary. I want to find out what methods are in place for young victims of bullying and I’d like to see if there is any way of us working together to come up with a better support system for young people who are being bullied.

“I really need your help… Share your stories with me… Let me know what is happening at your school or college. Tell me what you think needs to change. I want to know how much or how little bullying is occurring. What is being done about it? The more I know about what’s Really happening the more we can make a difference… Share your stories with me publicly here on my facebook page or privately email me here: TellNicola@yahoo.com.”

The Livelikeavip.com hope the meeting went well and applaud Nicola for doing something to make a difference. Visit Nicola’s official website to keep updated.
