London Tuesday: Champagne Perrier-Jouet Party
The Event: Champagne Perrier-Jouët – 200th birthday party with a Mentors and Muses theme
The Venue: Il Bottacio, Mayfair, London
The VIPs: Mark Ronson, Josephine de la Baume, Paloma Faith, Emilia Fox, Pixie Geldof, George Lamb, Giles Deacon, Kelly Hoppen, Giles Deacon, Ben De Lisi, Nicole Farhi, Henry Holland, DJ Sam Young
The Gossip: (1) Everybody knows the best champagne is the oldest champagne. Or is that wine? In any case, Perrier-Jouët celebrated its 200th birthday last night, certainly proving to get better with age. We’re told 1998 was a good year as during the evening guests were treated to some of the House’s finest cuvées,but it concluded with the Belle Epoque 1998 en jeroboam. Hiccup!
(2) Guests soaked up the bubbles with a three course meal from gourmet chef Albert Roux. So much food was consumed it gave people energy to get on the dancefloor to shimmy to tracks laid down by Playboy Club and Bungalow 8 legend DJ Sam Young and then the unstoppable Mark Ronson. Just days ago Mark was entertaining Paul McCartney at his wedding reception – busy (and wealthy) man!
(3) It wouldn’t be a party without strict competition over outfits, especially because so many fashion designers were present. Without doubt Pixie Geldof looked stunning:
While Paloma Faith looked ‘interesting’
(4) What made this party more interesting than the usual showbiz bash (except for the yummy food and vintage Champagne instead of Prosecco) it had a theme. Not fancy dress (although Paloma maybe got confused) but Mentors and Muses. The guest list comprised VIP’s who each invited their personal Mentor, Muse or Protégée. The guest list spanned across artists, designers, ballerinas & actors; Mark Ronson invited his new wife Josephine de la Baume as his muse, Henry Holland invited Pixie Geldof as his muse, celebrity photographer Lorenzo Agius invited Emilia Fox as his muse while we’re not entirely sure how George Lamb got in? A muse for grey haired people?
