Locanda Locatelli

Why? Offering some of the finest Italian meals in the city, Locanda Lotelli is the restaunt to be seen at. The venue has a somewhat relaxed atmosphere with smooth jazz being played from your arrival and with a service so divine, it is no surprise to learn that celebrites such as Bono and Sir Paul McCartney frequent here as well as Paul’s daughter Stella with her friends like Gwyneth Paltrow and Donna Air.

Where? Maryleybone, London W1H, Nearest Tube: Marble Arch

What to eat? Our personal favourite is Zuppa di fave e verdure, a delicious beans soup served with carrot celery and courgette. You really enjoy the food and then get a buzz from knowing that it is healthy too.

What to drink? A crisp glass of Italian white wine goes well with the fish and vegetable dishes.

What to pay? It depends on your appetite but it shouldn’t really cost you more than £50 a head for food.

Lucky Pig

Why? VIPs and important people like bespoke things and that includes bars! One visit to Lucky Pig and you’ll never want to visit a chain bar again. Sink into one of the comfy booths and you’ll feel like a celebrity and with the BBC Great Portland Street HQ just seconds away, there’s a good chance you’ll see important people too.

Where? Fitzrovia (ie just North of Oxford Street), central London. Nearest Tube: Regents Park or Great Portland Street

What to eat? There’s an adequate menu of bar snacks devised by Olivia Brinkley from Hot Jam.

What to drink? Cocktails! Bar manager Olly Hornby Smith, formerly of Soho House Group, has done a brilliant job of creating a menu full of old classics and adding a few new tasty treats. Grey Goose Le Fizz is a refreshing mix of Grey Goose Vodka, lemon, elderflower & soda and we also tried a delicious Dark & Stormy (rum and crisp ginger beer with a slice of lime) and finished with the daring Pontarlier Neuveax (Bombay Sapphire Gin, Absinthe, curaçao & grapefruit juice)

What to pay? Cocktails are £8 on average – excellent value for money for the area
